Andy Sick
Founder & Managing Member
Andy has spent 20 years advising businesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations — guiding them through formations, transactions, regulatory challenges, and the day-to-day legal decisions that shape a company's trajectory. He founded Sick Legal on the belief that growing businesses deserve sharp, accessible legal counsel without the overhead and impersonality of a large firm.

Background
Andy counsels the firm's business clients through every stage of the corporate life cycle — from initial formation and early growth, through critical commercial transactions and acquisitions, to ongoing general counsel services and eventual exit or succession planning. His clients include cannabis operators, startups, established SMBs, and entrepreneurs across a range of industries.
Before founding Sick Legal, Andy practiced at boutique law firms where he represented clients in complex commercial disputes between technology companies, catastrophic personal injury cases, wrongful death litigation, and spent nuclear fuel storage matters. That litigation background informs his transactional work today — he knows what a deal or a contract looks like when it falls apart, which makes him better at structuring ones that don't.
Andy also founded a legal technology company that adapted artificial intelligence and virtual reality technologies for use in the practice of law — an experience that shaped his approach to running a leaner, more technology-forward firm.
Public Service
Andy's career includes significant public sector experience. He worked with the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Consumer Litigation, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York, and served on the staff of then-Senator Joe Biden on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. That government experience gave him a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, policy development, and how agencies think — knowledge that directly benefits his cannabis, compliance, and regulatory clients today.
Approach
Andy's practice is built on directness, availability, and a genuine understanding of how businesses operate. He limits his client roster intentionally so that every client gets meaningful attention — not a form response from a paralegal. When you call Andy, Andy picks up the phone.
He's equally comfortable drafting a complex membership interest purchase agreement, negotiating a commercial lease in Manhattan, advising a dispensary through a CRC/OCM compliance review, or helping a first-time founder figure out the right entity structure. That range isn't accidental — it's the product of nearly 20 years spent working across practice areas with an emphasis on solving real business problems, not checking legal boxes.
